Capital Projects Engineer


The role:

Join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in driving our Capital Investment Projects to success!

You'll be at the forefront of engineering innovation, guiding projects from initial feasibility through to the exciting start-up phase of equipment, processes, procedures, and systems. This role contributes to the development and implementation of an on-going 3-year Capital Investment strategic plan for Vitaco.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Detailed Scoping, Design, and Costings: Prepare comprehensive plans and financial assessments for the approval of Capital Projects.
  • Project Management: Oversee the entire lifecycle of Capital Projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.
  • Installation and Commissioning: Manage the installation and commissioning phases of Capital Projects.
  • Cost-Saving Initiatives: Identify and implement projects aimed at reducing costs and improving efficiency.
  • Relationship Building: Foster strong working relationships within the business and with external partners to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Contractor Management: Oversee contractors, ensuring cost control and adherence to work standards.
  • Health and Safety: Promote a culture of workplace health and safety with meticulous attention to detail while implementing projects and in design to meet regulatory requirements and ensure all people’s safety.

Qualifications and Experience required:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering (NZQA Level 8 recognised degree)
  • 5+ years experience in capital project management ideally within food, supplement, or FMCG manufacturing
  • Expertise in equipment layout design, automation, and commissioning
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, safety standards, and validation protocols
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/SolidWorks, MS Office, and project planning tools
  • Experience with contract negotiation, budgeting, and financial analysis
  • Results-Oriented Mindset: Committed to continuous improvement and achieving outstanding results
  • Strong skills in planning, project, and financial reporting. Confidence dealing with data!
