Maintenance Engineer (Afternoon Shift)


The Role:

Reporting to our Engineering Manager, we are looking for a Maintenance Engineer with relevant industrial and hands on experience to join our close-knit team.

This is a key role within our organisation to ensure the maintenance of our equipment, buildings, and services without compromising the health and safety of our staff, product safety or operational effectiveness. This position is vital for supporting our Engineering Team while Vitacoare undergoing a period of growth. 

The hours for this position are 42 hours per week, from 2:00pm to 10:30pm, Monday to Friday. There will be occasional rostered Saturdays, overtime and call outs. The salary for this role ranges between $90,000 to $115,000 depending on experience. This role is based in East Tamaki

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working with production leaders and operators to ensure timely resolution of all mechanical breakdown issues
  • Preventative Maintenance activities including continuous improvement feedback of PM plans
  • Identifying equipment issues and functional failure and reporting in CMMS
  • Completion of scheduled engineering work orders
  • Liaise with Engineering planner for the procurement and stocking of equipment spare parts
  • Conduct and contribute to problem elimination RCA, RCPE
  • Assisting the Engineering Manager with running continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop and Implement plant improvements to equipment and processes ensuring compliance with QA, Food Safety and HSE requirements

Take and active approach to the MBU process, including metric ownership and accountability striving for world class performance

To be successful, you will have the ability to not just 'do the job', but to use your analytical and problem-solving skills to provide top level service to the manufacturing plant. Although experience in the food, dairy or pharmaceutical industry is preferred, your interpersonal skills and an attitude for getting stuck in to get the job done is what will make you stand out.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Trade certification with applicable trade and skilled in fitting, turning and machining AND/OR a NZQA recognized level 7 or higher Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in plant and equipment maintenance
  • Experience in RCA, FMECA or similar tools
  • Good computer literacy and experience working within a CMMS
  • Demonstrated experience in a maintenance function, with a flexible and constructive approach to dealing with operational issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience in predictive maintenance solutions and continuous improvement using CMMS tools
  • A strong results orientation and continuous improvement mind-set, good planning and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
