We're looking for an experienced People & Culture Advisor / Coordinator to join our collaborative team. This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys balancing practical HR advice with operational excellence and has experience supporting managers and employees in a medium-to-large, fast-paced organisation where employment legislation, compliance and stakeholder management are part of everyday HR.

As a trusted first point of contact, you'll provide first-level advice while coordinating key People & Culture activities across the employee lifecycle.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced HR Coordinator ready to take the next step into advisory work, or an HR professional returning to the workforce who is looking to step back into a broad People & Culture role in a supportive team environment.

Why join Vitaco?

  • A genuinely broad generalist HR role with advisory responsibility.
  • Work alongside experienced People & Culture professionals who are passionate about developing others.
  • Exposure to a wide variety of people initiatives, projects and employment matters.
  • A collaborative culture built around our values of We Care, We Act and We Succeed.
  • Staff product discounts, wellbeing initiatives and free parking.

About the role

As a key member of our People & Culture team, you'll support the delivery of people initiatives and provide practical guidance to managers and employees across the employee lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing practical HR advice to managers and employees while interpreting and applying New Zealand employment legislation, company policies and employment agreements.
  • Preparing employment agreements, contract variations and other employment documentation.
  • Coordination and support of key employee lifecycle activities including onboarding, parental leave, employee changes, performance processes and employee exits.
  • Maintaining accurate employee records, HR systems and reporting to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Coordinating learning and development activities and supporting remuneration and other People & Culture initiatives.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and systems and escalating more complex employee relations matters, oremployment risks where appropriate.

About you

You'll already have experience in a structured HR environment, ideally within a medium to large organisation and are confident supporting managers with day-to-day people matters.

You'll also bring:

  • 3-5+ years' experience in generalist Human Resources.
  • Demonstrated experience providing first-level HR advice to managers and employees.
  • A sound understanding of New Zealand employment legislation and employment relations principles.
  • Experience supporting the employee lifecycle, including employment documentation, onboarding, leave management, performance processes and employee exits.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience using HRIS systems and Microsoft 365.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and an interest in new technologies, including AI.

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Enjoy building trusted relationships with managers and employees.
  • Are confident interpreting employment legislation and applying policies in practical workplace situations.
  • Can balance exceptional customer service with compliance and risk management.
  • Enjoy working independently while collaborating closely with a supportive team.
  • Take pride in producing high-quality, accurate work.
  • Have strong written communication skills and can communicate confidently at all levels.
  • Are naturally curious and enjoy identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes.

It would be an advantage if you have experience in:

  • Manufacturing, warehousing or FMCG environments.
  • Supporting unionised workforces.
  • Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) processes.
  • Performance management, investigations or disciplinary processes, or an interest in developing in this area.
